Amongst the 15 team entries for the 3rd edition 24 hours Le Mans oXigen Slot.it digital race is a works entry from Slot.it, Italy. Racing under #1 the ‘BB Slot Reggio Emilia’ Audi R18 is a prototype 4-wheel drive car.It took me several months of design, prototyping and testing on my part to make the 4WD concept viable” said Maurizio Ferrari of Slot.it. “What started as a joke turned into one of the most intriguing, exciting and difficult projects I’ve been working on in my years with Slot.it. We’ll race with the same system that will be found in the production R18 etron models – actually, except for the rear special pulleys for magnesium wheel, most parts are pre-production items”.

No less than seven teams are making the trip from Europe with Spain and the Netherlands strongly represented as well as Italy. The #8 Toyota Hybrid Racing for Holland entry is a scratch-built Toyota TS030, seen here in its raw state.

GT cars are less well represented than the Le Mans Prototypes P1 and P2 classes but at least Wolverhampton Scalextric Club won’t have far to travel with their #17 Corvette C6R.

GT opposition will come from the Saleen S7 of California Slot Aloyshop from Spain which race organiser Gary Skipp strongly suspects has works support from Arrow Slot.

With 15 cars racing for a day and a night on a 4-lane track it should be a great event. We aim to be there.
